Tarxien Rainbows defeated Mosta 1-0 in a clash between the two teams sharing the bottom spot of the table from the YoHealth Malta Premier Closing Round at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Wednesday.
The Rainbows therefore registered a first win in five months, leaving the Blues at the bottom of the table with just one point after seven matches.
Tarxien managed to take the lead thanks to an own goal by Jake Vassallo who was unlucky to deflect the ball past goalkeeper Akpan.
Mosta could have equalised towards the end of the first half when they were awarded a penalty after Prince Emmanuel was brought down inside the area but goalkeeper Andrea Cassar neutralised Leo Fernandes’ effort from the penalty spot.
