A brace by Vitinho early in the second half handed Naxxar Lions a 2-1 win over Tarxien Rainbows in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Closing Round league phase at the National Stadium on Saturday.
A win which puts Winston Muscat’s side in fourth place, one ahead of Valletta and Sliema Wanderers and two ahead of Birkirkara. Tarxien, on the other hand, suffered a sixth defeat in eight matches and now lie second from bottom.
Following a goalless first half, Vitinho put Naxxar ahead three minutes in the second half and five minutes later, the Brazilian added another after converting a penalty which also led to the dismissal of Miguel D’Alessandro for a second yellow card.
