BOV Amateur League II: Kalkara cruise past Rabat to move twelve points clear

Kalkara United edged closer to promotion as they moved twelve points clear in the BOV Amateur League II thanks to an incredible 9-2 win over Rabat Ajax at the Sirens Stadium on Saturday.

Ryan Dalli put Kalkara ahead on 5 minutes and three minutes later, Miguel Perez Jimenez doubled the score. Perez Jimenez converted a penalty to make it 3-0 on 24 minutes and four minutes in the second half, Ryan Dalli added another. Rabat hit back with goals by Andre Debattista on 66 minutes and Jamie Camilleri four minutes later. However, Lucas Barcik scored for Kalkara on 72 minutes and Luke Farrugia scored three in five minutes – on 76, 78 and 80 minutes. Isaac Abela scored Kalkara’s ninth three minutes from time.

Dingli Swallows moved second as a goal by Jayden John Bonanno on 75 minutes handed Dingli Swallows a narrow win over Ghaxaq at the Charles Abela Stadium. 

On the other hand, St. George’s came from behind to beat Msida St. Joseph 2-1 at the Sirens Stadium. Yessous Camilleri put Msida ahead on 52 minutes but Jaden Camilleri equalised on 75 minutes and Renato Coneceicao notched the winner two minutes from time. 

In another match at the Charles Abela Stadium, a penalty by Giovanni Galea seven minutes from time handed Mdina Knights a narrow win over Ta’ Xbiex. 

Kalkara lead the way with 46 points, followed by Dingli on 34, Msida 33, Mdina 32, Ta’ Xbiex 31, Siggiewi 26, Rabat 22, St. George’s 21, Marsaskala 13, Gharghur and Ghaxaq 11 and Sta. Venera 7.
