Mdina Knights maintained the challenge for promotion as they stunned leaders Kalkara United, beating them 3-1 in a match from the BOV Amateur League II at the Luxol Stadium on Saturday.
Jamie Lee Micallef put Mdina ahead on 7 minutes. Luke Formosa doubled the score on 69 minutes and although Ryan Dalli pulled one back on 81 minutes, Kyle Bonnici sealed the issue with a third goal six minutes in added time.
Dingli Swallows moved back in second place thanks to a narrow win over St. George’s at the Sirens Stadium courtesy of Jayden John Bonanno on 38 minutes.
Rabat Ajax were held in a 1-1 draw by Santa Venera Lightnings at the Luxol Stadium. Yuya Emura put Rabat ahead on 75 minutes but Nilton Mifsud equalised on 77 minutes.
Gharghur, on the other hand, defeated Ghaxaq 2-1 at the Sirens Stadium. Miguel Busuttil converted a penalty on 31 minutes and Max Kirkbride doubled the score two minutes from the end of the first half. Emmanuel Cutajar reduced the gap three minutes from time.
Kalkara lead the way with 49 points, followed by Dingli on 40, Msida 39, Mdina 38, Ta’ Xbiex 34, Siggiewi 29, St George’s 24, Rabat 23, Gharghur 14, Marsaskala 13, Ghaxaq 11 and Sta. Venera 8.
