Balzan moved back on top the BOV Challenge League as a goal by Oluwatobiloba Dimeji Awosanya on 16 minutes handed them a narrow win over Sirens at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Monday.
Andrew Cohen’s side moves two points ahead of Birzebbuga St. Peter’s and Swieqi United with two match days to go for the end of the competition.
In fact, Balzan lead with 44 points, followed by Swieqi and Birzebbuga on 42, Melita 38, Sirens 35, Pieta’ 31, Fgura 28 and St. Andrews 26.
Meanwhile in the Play-Out, Mgarr United and Santa Lucia shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
Wisdom Osaretin Igiebor put Mgarr ahead on 66 minutes but Filip Petrkovski equalised five minutes from time.
