Victoria Hotspurs moved another step closer to securing promotion as they defeated Luqa St. Andrew’s 4-1 in a match from the BOV Amateur League I at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.
Rondinely put the Hotspurs ahead on 2 minutes and three minutes later, Christian Mercieca doubled the score. Kurt Borg made it 3-0 on 36 minutes. Ferdinando Apap extended the lead on 56 minutes with Andreas Psaila scoring a consolation goal on 83 minutes.
A goal by Brendan Scerri on 70 minutes handed Qrendi a narrow win over Qormi in another match at the Centenary Stadium.
Meanwhile at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Xghajra Tornados and Pembroke Athleta shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Dylan Mifsud put Xghajra ahead on 9 minutes with Luca Emanuele Caruana equalising on 29 minutes.
Attard lead the way with 53 points, followed by Victoria on 51, Mqabba 44, Qormi 43, Lija 40, San Gwann 30, Qrendi 29, Kirkop and Mellieha 24, Senglea and Pembroke 22, Zejtun, Luqa and Xghajra 21.
