Swieqi United take sole leadership in the BOV Challenge League as a goal by Augusto Rene Caseres on 31 minutes handed them a narrow win over St. Andrews at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Saturday.
A goal by Sergio Mosquera after just three minutes handed Fgura United a narrow win over Melita at the Centenary Stadium in another match from the Top 8.
Swieqi lead the way with 45 points, followed by Balzan on 44, Birzebbuga 42, Melita 38, Sirens 35, Pieta’ and Fgura 31 and St. Andrews 26.
In the Play-Out, Marsa and Zebbug Rangers, who are entangled in the battle against relegation both registered wins.
Marsa defeated Mtarfa 5-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium thanks to goals by Dani Machado on 36 minutes, Neil Demanuele on 45 minutes, Godfred Sakyi on 63 minutes, Demanuele once again on 70 minutes and Sheldon Seychell eight minutes from time.
On the other hand, a goal by Shedrack Tegwi Thomas on 18 minutes handed Zebbug Rangers a narrow win over Vittoriosa Stars at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
Mgarr lead with 33 points, followed by Gudja on 26, Santa Lucia and Zurrieq 24, Vittoriosa 21, Zebbug 19, Marsa 16 and Mtarfa -2.
