Gzira United earned their first point in the VBET Malta Premier Opening Round league phase as they held Zabbar St. Patrick in a goalless draw at the Centenary Stadium on Monday.
The Maroons were coming from four defeats in their first four outings and were therefore aiming for a first positive result. Although they are still chasing a first win, this draw lifts their morale ahead of forthcoming matches.
For Zabbar, this was the second draw in three matches. They are now joint-third from bottom with Hibernians on five points, two behind Birkirkara and Hamrun.
The match lacked goal-mouth action with the best opportunity falling at the feet of substitute Maxuell Samurai whose powerful shot from the right was neutralised by goalkeeper Edoardo Colombo early in the second half.
