Tarxien Rainbows are the only team with maximum points after three matches in the BOV Challenge League as they came from behind to beat Pieta’ Hotspurs 3-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.
Precious Uchechukwu Nwankwo put the Hotspurs ahead on 8 minutes but Norberto Jimenez equalised thirteen minutes in the second half and Hidesato Ueda put the Rainbows ahead on the hour. Eight minutes from time, Jurgen Debono sealed the issue with a third goal.
A goal by Jean Paul Attard on 24 minutes handed St. Andrews a narrow win over Gudja United in another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
At the Centenary Stadium, Santa Lucia and Zurrieq shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, a goal by Sebastian Grech on 10 minutes for Zurrieq and a penalty by Klose Azzopardi Conti five minutes from time while Attard and Melita earned a point each in a goalless draw.
Tarxien lead the way with 9 points, followed by Fgura on 7, Naxxar, Mgarr and Victoria on 6, Melita, Swieqi, Sirens, Vittoriosa and St. Andrews 4, Santa Lucia, Pieta’ and Zebbug 3, Attard 2, Zurrieq 2 and Gudja 0.
