Hamrun Spartans were held in a 2-2 draw by Hibernians in a match from the VBET Malta Premier Opening Round league phase at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.
The Spartans, therefore, failed to keep the pace with leaders Valletta and now lie five points behind the Citizens and three behind Floriana and Marsaxlokk. On the other hand, for Hibernians, this was the third draw in five matches to move fourth from bottom.
Jake Grech put Hamrun ahead on 16 minutes but Moritz Romling levelled matters one minute from the end of the first half.
Marcello Trotta restored the lead for Marco Amelia’s side on 61 minutes but two minutes in added time, substitute Jayden Roe restored equilibrium.
