Second half goals hand Valletta the three points

Valletta registered a second win in the VBET Malta Premier as they scored three in the second half to beat Gzira United 3-0 in a match from the Opening Round league phase at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

Gzira shared the exchanges with their opponents during the first half but conceded three goals after the break to suffer a second defeat in as many matches. 

Thane Micallef opted for three changes from the team which defeated Zabbar as Roko Prsa, Alex Tanque and Manuel Morello made way for Petar Sekulovic, Bruno Gomes and Diogo Tavares. The Maroons, on the other hand, had Luisinho replacing the suspended Gabriel Bohrer Mentz.

Gzira United were awarded a penalty after twenty minutes after Sava Radic appeared to floor Maxuell Samurai inside the area. However Valletta played the FVS card and referee Ishmael Barbara, who had just replaced Slobodan Petrovic, changed his decision, cautioning the Brazilian striker for simulation. 

Valletta managed to break the deadlock on 65 minutes when Jake Azzopardi intercepted a pass by goalkeeper Emiliano Colombo and served Andrea Zammit who advanced before placing the ball at the back with a shot from outside the area. 

The Citizens sealed the issue six minutes from time with a goal by Roko Prsa from close range after Alex Tanque rounded a defender on the edge of the area, serving the Croatian midfielder with an intelligent pass. 

Four minutes in added time, Valletta added another as Colombo saved partially a Keyon Ewurum effort and Roko Prsa served Thaylor who placed the ball at the back of the net from close range.
