Mellieha defeated Kalkara 4-3 at the Charles Abela Stadium on Sunday in one of six matches from the BOV National League I.
Miguel Perez Jimenez put Kalkara ahead on 4 minutes and Taiwo David Akindele doubled the score on 13 minutes. Mellieha hit back with goals by Jordan Vella on 15 minutes and Jhanluis Hernandez ten minutes in the second half. Kalkara regained the lead with another goal by Akindele on 69 minutes but Mathias Conti equalised on 87 minutes and Iven Zammit notched the winner three minutes in added time.
The other match in programme at the Charles Abela Stadium between Mtarfa and Senglea Athletic did not take place as Mtarfa, for the second consecutive week, failed to turn up for the game.
Lija Athletic defeated Dingli Swallows 2-1 at the Sirens Stadium. Ross McParland scored on 37 and 53 minutes with Jurgen Gerada reducing the gap five minutes in added time.
Qormi and Mqabba shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Jayden Zac Borg put Qormi ahead on 17 minutes but Kurt Borg scored twice on 40 and 43 minutes to turn the score in Mqabba’s favour. Emerson Vella levelled matters four minutes in the second half.
At the Sirens Stadium, Qrendi registered a 4-2 win over Pembroke Athleta. Shedrack Tegwi Thomas put Pembroke ahead on 5 minutes but a brace by Christian Saint Ebisindor on 15 and 34 minutes, a penalty by Wagner in added time and a goal by Brandon Bray eight minutes in the second half handed Qrendi a comfortable lead before Weverton reduced the gap on 71 minutes.
Meanwhile a goal by Omar Elouni on 71 minutes handed San Gwann a narrow win over Marsa at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
Mellieha and Qrendi lead the way with 6 points, followed by Qormi and Lija on 4, Senglea, Dingli, Kalkara and San Gwann 3, Mqabba 2, Mtarfa and Pembroke 0 and Marsa -13.
