Rabat Ajax registered a fourth win in as many matches in the BOV National League II as they came from behind to beat St. George’s 6-1 at the Luxol Stadium on Sunday.
Andres Martinez put the Saints ahead on 19 minutes but Innocent John Awori equalised on 35 minutes and in added time before the end of the first half, Ryan Tonna converted a penalty and Aaron Sammut Steer made it 3-1. One minute in the second half, Kyle Debono extended the lead before Julian Suzuki and Shayon Attard extended the lead further with goals on 71 and 86 minutes.
Luqa St. Andrew’s registered their first win as they beat Msida St. Joseph by the odd goal in five at the Sirens Stadium. Zack Mangion put Luqa ahead on 19 minutes and Carlos Debattista doubled the score on 61 minutes. Seth Kweku Ziyaba extended the lead on 70 minutes but Msida reduced the gap with goals by Kenneth Aquilina on 74 minutes and Yessous Camilleri on 89 minutes.
Siggiewi also registered their first win thanks to a 4-1 win over Marsaskala at the Sirens Stadium. Chris Ronaldo Bohui put Marsaskala ahead on 8 minutes but Giovanni Galea equalised on 19 minutes and Michael Sciberras made it 2-1 on 40 minutes. Ryan Dalli then scored twice on 51 and 81 minutes.
Santa Venera Lightnings came back from two goals down to rescue a point in a 2-2 draw with Gharghur at the Charles Abela Stadium. Jake Agius put Gharghur ahead on 11 minutes and Hassan Jamiu Temilola doubled the score on 27 minutes. Desire Koiba reduced the gap on 83 minutes and Noah Camilleri equalised four minutes in added time.
In another match at the Charles Abela Stadium, Xghajra Tornados and Mdina Knights shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Jake Sciberras put Mdina ahead on 28 minutes but Victor Ifeanyi Mbata equalised four minutes from time.
At the Luxol Stadium, Kirkop United beat Ghaxaq 2-1. Quelln Micallef put Kirkop ahead on 13 minutes but six minutes later, Ian Muscat levelled matters. Andres Tenorio made it 2-1 on 69 minutes.
Rabat lead the way with 12 points, followed by Zejtun on 10, Kirkop 8, Xghajra 7, Gharghur and Ghaxaq 6, Luqa, Sta. Venera and St. George’s 5, Siggiewi and Ta’ Xbiex 4, Msida 3, Mdina 1 and Marsaskala 0.
