Birkirkara FC have moved clear at the top of the Enemed Women’s Futsal League standings after securing their second consecutive victory, while Pietà Hotspurs and University of Malta Futsal also registered important wins during Match Week 2.

Birkirkara maintained their impressive start to the season with a 4-2 victory over Mġarr United. Following their opening 6-0 win against Birżebbuġa St Peter’s, Birkirkara now have six points from two matches, having scored ten goals and conceded just twice. The result further underlined their intentions to challenge for the leading positions this season.

Pietà Hotspurs enjoyed a successful league debut, defeating Parr Mela Rockets 2-0. Pietà collected their first three points while keeping a clean sheet, providing an encouraging start to their campaign.

University of Malta Futsal secured their first victory of the season with a convincing 4-0 win over Birżebbuġa St Peter’s. After losing to reigning champions Zero Sei in the opening match week, the university side responded positively to collect their first three points of the competition.

Following two match weeks, Birkirkara lead the standings with six points, followed by Pietà Hotspurs, University of Malta Futsal, Zero Sei and Mġarr United, all on three points. However, Pietà and Zero Sei have played only one match, compared with two for the other three teams.

Parr Mela Rockets and Birżebbuġa St Peter’s are still searching for their first points after suffering two consecutive defeats.

The opening results suggest that the battle for the leading positions could involve several teams. Birkirkara have made a perfect start, but reigning champions Zero Sei still have a game in hand, while Pietà Hotspurs and University of Malta Futsal have already demonstrated their potential to compete. Despite their defeat against Birkirkara, Mġarr United also remain on three points, adding further interest to what promises to be a competitive season.
