Namibian defender for St. Andrews

After the recent signing of Portuguese striker Gustavo Ribeiro ‘Guti’, Luxol St. Andrews continued in their quest to strengthen their squad with the signing of Namibian right back Miguel Hamutenya from Glasgow Rangers. This official presentation took place in the presence of Mark Grima, director of Canas Y Tapas restaurant in St. Julians – who are the main sponsors of St. Andrews FC – and Team Manager Mike Falzon.

Scottish football agent Jonathan Hope said they explored every option to obtain a work permit for Miguel Hamutenya for Glasgow Rangers but this proved to be extremely difficult and therefore explored other possible options for the player.

“After evaluating the best country for Miguel to develop, it was no question he would be best placed with Luxol St Andrews in Malta.”

“After a meeting with St. Andrews president Paul Falzon, I was left in no doubt that this club was the correct club for Miguel. Luxol St Andrews is a family club and we both felt very well received and I am confident Miguel will be looked after here and more importantly given the correct coaching to develop into a better player. Miguel will return to the UK after gaining experience and will play at the highest level, maybe back to Rangers who will monitor his situation closely.”

“Since being here I have already identified other future players with one being the Libyan international Arafa Nakuaa who is also on the books of Luxol St. Andrews. I have made calls and I now have two Championship clubs ready to make an offer for the player to join them in May. Arafa is an attacking midfielder who displays strength and technique that I see on a daily basis in the Premiership. This boy will play in the UK next year for sure. Luxol St Andrews are aware of this interest and we will work together to ensure business is done to please the player and the fans of this club.”

“I would finally like to say a massive thank you to Paul and Mike at Luxol St Andrews for their hospitality. I look forward to a strong relationship in ensuring other players have the opportunities to live their dream.”
