German referee at MFA seminar for match officials and referee observers

The MFA Refereeing Department announced that UEFA Elite German Referee Dr Felix Brych will be the Malta FA’s special guest at the Winter Seminar for match officials and referee observers being held on Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th February at the Centenary Hall in Ta’ Qali.

Felix Brych is a well-known personality in world refereeing. Besides the Olympic Games in London in 2012 and the World Cup Final Tournament in Brazil in 2014, Felix Brych took charge of the 2012 UEFA Champions’ League 1st leg semi-final between Chelsea and Barcelona and the UEFA Europa League Final between Seville and Benfica in 2014. His outstanding performances confirmed his selection as one of the referees at EURO 2016 in France later this year.

Felix Brych’s presentation at the seminar entitled ‘Modern Football Refereeing’ will focus on trends in modern football in terms of preparation, fitness, positioning and understanding of football.

Other notable presentations include ‘Towards Achieving Excellent Performances’ by Director of Refereeing Adrian Casha, ‘Fatigue Management for Optimising Physical Performance’ by Referees’ Fitness Coach Ronald Zammit, ‘Nutrition for Performance’ by Football Nutrition Specialist Dorianne Caruana Bonnici and ‘The Referee’s Management of the Game – A Coach’s Perspective’ by Football Coach Stephen Azzopardi.
The theme of the two-day seminar is: “The 3Ps: PLAN – PREPARE – PERFORM”.
