Pietà vs Gzira abandoned two minutes from time due to hailstorm

The FA Trophy quarter-final between Pietà Hotspurs and Gzira United was abandoned two minutes from time due to a hailstorm which hit the Hibernians Stadium.

The other quarter-final between Mosta and Birkirkara was also postponed.

Pietà Hotspurs vs Gzira United was heading for extra-time as the score was 1-1.

Andrew Cohen put Gzira ahead on the 29th minute when he received a cross by Justin Mengolo from the left and slotted past goalkeeper Nicky Vella.

Five minutes in the second half, Pietà equalised when a Jan Busuttil free kick from the left was only blocked by Justin Haber, the ball was deflected by a defender to end at the back of the net for an own goal.

However with two minutes to go, referee Eman Grech interrupted the game due to a hailstorm and eventually abandoned the game as the pitch of the Hibernians Stadium turned white.
