St. Andrews registered the first win in over a month as they beat ten-man St. Venera Ligthnings 6-2 to move an important step towards securing promotion to Division 1. The Saints are now two points behind BOV Second Division leaders Lija Athletic and three ahead of third-placed Gzira United.
Lija have already secured promotion and with a win over Mellieha, they would be crowned champions. On the other hand, St. Andrews need a draw from the game against Gharghur to make sure of playing in Division 1 next season.
Meanwhile a brace by Justin Felice enabled Rabat Ajax to secure their Division 2 status as they beat Senglea Athletic 2-1. This result leaves only Senglea and St. Venera fighting to avoid the tenth place and therefore the Third Division Play-Offs.
Senglea lie one point ahead of St. Venera. In the final league matches on Monday, Senglea take on Gozo while St. Venera face Rabat.
