Silvio Vella appointed new Rabat Ajax coach

Silvio Vella has been appointed coach of Second Division side Rabat Ajax. He replaces Michael Molzahn who led the Magpies to sixth place this season.

Vella is a product of Rabat Ajax making his Premier League debut in season 1985/86. During that season, he won the Premier League, FA Trophy and Super Cup. After winning the MFA Footballer of the Year Award in 1994, Silvio Vella was transferred to Hibernians where he played for eight years. He played ninety matches for the national team.

After quitting as a player, he started a career in coaching and has been a member of the MFA Technical Staff for the past years. He was the coach of the Under-19 side and earlier assistant coach to the Under-21 national team.
