The draws for the first phase of the Maltco Lotteries First Division Knock-Out and the preliminary round of the Quick-Keno Second & Third Division Knock-Out were held on Monday at the Centenary Hall, Ta’ Qali.

The ten First Division clubs will be taking part in the Maltco Lotteries First Division Knock-Out. The ten teams are divided into two groups of five teams each. Groups will be played on a one-round league basis.

On the other hand, thirty-two teams will be taking part as out of the teams in Divisions 2 and 3, the only team not to enter the Quick-Keno Second & Third Division Knock-Out Competition is Gozo FC.

MFA President Dr Joe Mifsud announced that attendence for these two knock-out competitions increased over the past season with attendance for the Quick-Keno Second & Third Division Knock-Out increasing by hundred per cent.

While explaining in detail, the association’s work throughout the season, Dr Mifsud said the support by sponsors was necessary. Part of this sponsorship was then going directly to clubs.

General Director of Maltco Lotteries Mario Cassar said this was the sixth year of sponsorship of the MFA Knock-Out competitions and said that hopefully another agreement will be signed in the coming months.

Group 1: Lija Athletic, Melita, Msida St. Joseph, Mosta, Balzan Youths.
Group 2: Mqabba, Pietà Hotspurs, St. Andrews, St. George’s, Dingli Swallows.

All group matches will be played between Saturday 18th September and Sunday 17th October.

Quick-Keno Second & Third Division Knock-Out – Preliminary Round Groups
Group 1: Mellieha, Ghaxaq, Rabat Ajax, Mdina Knights.
Group 2: Gudja United, Gzira United, Santa Lucia, Zejtun Corinthians.
Group 3: San Gwann, Fgura United, Mgarr United, Marsa.
Group 4: Pembroke Athleta, Birzebbuga St. Peter’s, Siggiewi, Zebbug Rangers.
Group 5: Mtarfa, Qrendi, Marsascala, Zurrieq.
Group 6: Sirens, Kirkop United, Xghajra Tornados, Naxxar Lions.
Group 7: Gharghur, St. Venera Lightnings, Swieqi United, Senglea Athletic.
Group 8: Attard, Luqa St. Andrew’s, Kalkara, St. Patrick.

All Preliminary Round Group matches will be played between Wednesday 1st September and Thursday 23rd September.
