Pietà Hotspurs registered their second win as they defeated Dingli Swallows 6-1. A win which puts them in joint-fourth place with Mosta and Melita on seven points. Mosta, however, have a game in hand.
Robson Luiz Bandeira put Pietà ahead just before the end of the first half. Zack Muscat doubled the score on 55 minutes and eight minutes later the same player increased the lead. Chris Ciappara converted a penalty to pull one back for Dingli but another penalty by Quelin Refalo on 77 minutes and goals by Jesmond Azzopardi and Refalo on 87 and 91 minutes respectively increased the lead further.
Meanwhile in another match, Melita and St. Andrews shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
Kurt Coleiro put the Saints ahead five minutes from time but two minutes in stoppage time, George Gribbon notched the equaliser for the Amateurs.
St. George’s lead the way with 10 points, followed by Mqabba on 9, Balzan 8, Mosta, Pietà and Melita 7, Lija 6, St. Andrews 5, Dingli 3 and Msida -4.
Next Sunday 12th December, Lija Athletic face Mqabba while on Wednesday 15, Mosta take on leaders St. George’s.
