Spartans host in-form Rainbows

After defeating Qormi in their last outing, Hamrun Spartans will be hoping to register another positive result as they take on Tarxien Rainbows on Friday, kick-off at 19:30.

Tarxien and Hamrun are second and third respectively on 17 and 16 points, with Valletta leading the way on 24 points. Therefore should they beat the Rainbows, Hamrun would move second, five points behind the leaders.

However the Rainbows will be determined to extend their positive run to six matches without defeat after dropping just two points in a draw with Birkirkara in the last five matches. With a win over the Spartans, they would confirm themselves as the most in-form side in the Premier League, besides Valletta.

Coach Noel Coleiro is unable to field his best formation due to the absence of Orsco Anonam as he serves a one-match ban. Hamrun, on the other hand, welcome back Roderick Fenech and Martin Hrubsa who missed the game against to Qormi due to suspensions.

In the first round, Hamrun registered a 3-1 win.
