Msida St. Joseph were condemned to playing in Division 2 next season after suffering a heavy 0-4 defeat to Mosta in a match from the BOV First Division on Sunday. This defeat in fact leaves the Saints on -4 points, the same amount with which they had started the season after having a four-point deduction.
Simon Shead put the Blues ahead one minute from the end of the first half. Lee Grima doubled the score five minutes in the second half and nine minutes later, Shead added another to make it 3-0. Simon Shead sealed the issue with a fourth goal one minute from time.
In the second match, Melita and St. Andrews shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
Jonathan Briscoe White put the Saints ahead on 42 minutes but three minutes later, Julian Galea levelled matters for Melita.
Balzan lead the way with 32 points, followed by Mosta on 24, Melita 23, Mqabba 22, St. George’s 21, Lija 20, Pietà 15, St. Andrews 14, Dingli 12 and Msida -4.
