The Malta Under-19 side lost 1-3 to Hungary in a friendly match at the Gozo Stadium on Wednesday. In another friendly match between the two countries on Monday, they shared the spoils in a goalless draw.
The visitors took the lead on the 10th when Kapacina’s corner was headed in from close range by L. Erdelyi. In the 17th minute the same Kapacina-Erdelyi tandem struck again. Kapacina sent Erdelyi through and the Hungarian number 10 made no mistake in front of C. Dimech, beating him with a well-placed low shot to the left of the goalkeeper.
Five minutes from the end of the first half, D. Holman scored a third goal, hitting home from close range after Malta failed to clear Kapacina’s free-kick.
Malta was awarded a penalty on 77 minutes after A. Azzopardi was brought down inside the area. Mallia calmly slotted the ball low to the right of Dombo to reduce the gap for Malta.
