Busy summer for Lija/Iklin Football Nursery

The Lija/Iklin Football Nursery is having a very busy summer with ongoing activity throughout the week.

The Nursery is running training sessions for the Under-11 and Under-12 sides who will be travelling later on in July to Austria to participate in an international football tournament.

For the first time, the nursery is also running Special Summer Sports including training in Volleyball, Handball and Basketball. These sessions are being held under the supervision of qualified coaches provided by the National Associations.

There was a good response from the young players to train in these disciplines. This is wholly in line with the nursery’s philosophy to promote a culture of sports and not just the game of football.

The Nursery is also taking the opportunity to give another extra training session to the very young Under-10 players who would be motivated enough to increase their football skills.

Meanwhile as regards Women’s and Girls’ football, during the last season the Under-16 performed very well placing third out of twelve participating teams. The senior team, playing in the Second Division, also had its good moments and gave some encouraging performances.

The coaches took the opportunity to introduce young and promising girls to the senior team with very encouraging results. The Nursery intends to continue on this road and take this opportunity to invite:
1. Young girls aged und. 13 who would be willing to receive training in the game of football.
2. Players aged 13 – 16 preferably with experience who would be interested in joining our team.
3. Other players preferably over 16 who would be interested in playing with our club.

The Lija/Iklin Football Nursery is offering training under qualified coaches and young girls would be trained on their own and not with boys.
