Local futsal champions Excess RP Bidnija were drawn in Group F of the UEFA Futsal Cup Preliminary Round together with CF Eindhoven (NED), KMF Zelezarec Skopje (MKD) and Istanbul Üniversitesi SK (TUR). The Macedonian side will be hosting the mini-tournament which will be held in August.
The winner of the group would make it to Group 1 in the Main round where they would be facing former UEFA Futsal Cup winners MFK Dinamo Moskva (RUS), Athina ’90 (GRE) and hosts FC Litija (SVN).
This will be the second consecutive participation for Excess, known as ZC Excess Futsal until last season, in the UEFA Futsal Cup.
Despite failing to win the group in the mini-tournament hosted at the Cottonera Sports Complex last year, Excess obtained two positive results, registering a 4-2 win over KF Tirana and a 5-5 draw with FS Ilves Tampere. These results meant the local team climbed six places in the official UEFA rankings thus earning them a place in Position 3 in the draws for the first time.
A record 49 clubs from 48 associations are taking part in the UEFA Futsal Cup this year and 45 of them were involved in the draws which were held in Nyon on Wednesday. The 28 lowest-ranked contenders will begin in the preliminary round from 13 to 21 August and have been split into seven groups of four teams.
