Winston Muscat is the new head coach of the Triestina Soccer School Malta, which is based at De La Salle College, after an agreement has been reached between the coach of Premier League side Marsaxlokk, TSSM president Kenneth Vella and vice-president Robert Busuttil.
Between 2001 and 2004, Winston Muscat was part of the technical staff of the Paola Hibernians nursery where he was in charge of children aged 11, 12 and 14. He then spent two years as coach within the Malta Football Association Technical Centre where he was in charge of the Under-14 side.
His first experience at senior level was with St. Patrick in Division 1, joining them in 2007 and spending two years. He then moved to Vittoriosa Stars, leading them to promotion to the Premier League at the end of season 2009/10.
“Winston Muscat has not only experience at all levels of the local game but is UEFA A Licenced. This means that he is able to give children within the school top level training. We thank coach Peter Pullicino who was the head coach last season and Marsaxlokk president Robert Micallef for their support,” said Vella and Busuttil.
Muscat is currently preparing training sessions based on a programme prepared by US Triestina in Italy. Throughout the year, Muscat will be assisted by other qualified Maltese coaches and Italian coaches which US Triestina will be sending over from time to time.
Triestina Soccer School Malta announced that it is currently receiving applications for boys aged five to thirteen for the forthcoming season. Training will be held at De La Salle College. Children attending the school will possibly visit Trieste and take part in a training camp held for young players attending the various Triestina schools in Italy.
