A goal from the spot by Diego Maradona Pedriaggi on the stroke of half-time was enough to see off Vittoriosa Stars in Wednesday’s second match of the second day at the ‘Gammari’ Muscat’ Mosta Tournament.
The Blues were not as lively as in the first match against Birkirkara, but there were still positives to come out from last night’s match. Vittoriosa put on a good performance, but still suffered their second defeat in as many matches and have yet to score a goal.
This win put Mosta on top of the current standings with six points as in the first match of the evening Tarxien came a cropper when Birkirkara romped to an impressive 4-1 win. The hero for the Stripes was their sstriker Mosca Moi who hit a hatrick inside 53 minutes.
Daniel Bueno pulled one back for Tarxien but substitute Ryan Camenzuli sealed all three points for Birkirkara in the 75th minute.
Tournament standings after two matches: MOSTA FC 6 pts; BIRKIRKARA, TARXIEN 3 pts; VITTORIOSA 0 pts.
The last two matches of the tournament will be played on Friday. Birkirkara will meet Vittoriosa Stars at 18:45 hrs and Mosta meet Tarxien at 20:45 hrs. The presentation of trophies will be done after the last match.
