In line with the Youth FA’s objective to ‘Focus on developing grassroots football with fun and development over results’, Melita FC Youth Nursery will be hosting a series of football festivals including a Christmas Funfestival at its training grounds in Pembroke. These festivals are aimed at providing opportunities to all players with different abilities to play and enjoy the game of football.
The Christmas Funfestival, which will be held between the 4th and 23rd December, will divided into two categories red and yellow and will be open for Under-9 to Under-12 categories. The red category is aimed at nurseries with a strong group of players who can cope with competitive football for their respective age group, while the yellow is aimed at clubs who have a small group of players or limited participation in tournaments or festivals as well as those clubs who have a large number of players in a particular age group and want to give exposure to all players.
The Funfestivals, which will be spread over the current football season, will kick off at the end of October and come to an end at the end of May. These series of festivals are aimed at creating equal opportunities for all players to participating in a friendly and fun environment.
The rules and regulations of all tournaments are in line with the recommendations of Malta Football Association, Youth Development and Education Department. For all festivals, in the Under-9 category games will be played, 5 a-side, in the Under-10 and Under-11 games will be 8 a-side while the Under-12 games will be played, 9 a-side. All games will be on a round robin and no results and points will be kept. All games will be controlled by a game leader and before and after each match all players are to shake hands.
