Malta lost 10-0 to Moldova in the opening match from Group A of the FIFA Futsal World Cup first qualifying round at the Sportis Sasakhle in Tbilisi on Thursday.
Vasile Arlet put Moldova ahead on 6 minutes and Sergiu Tacot doubled the score a minute later. Alexandre Topale scored the third goal on 15 minutes and a minute later, Alexei Munteanu made it 4-0.
Three minutes in the second half, Olge Hilotii made it 5-0 and Sergiu Tacot 6-0 a minute later. Andrian Lascu increased the lead further on the half hour. A hat-trick by Valeriu Baesu on 30, 32 and 40 minutes sealed the issue for Moldova.
Malta takes on host Georgia on Friday.
