Another six teams reached the third round of the U*BET FA Trophy as six more second round matches were played on Sunday.
First Division sides St. Patrick, Vittoriosa Stars and Dingli Swallows, Siggiewi and Luqa St. Andrew’s from Division 2 and Gozitan side Victoria Hotspurs joined Lija Athletic from Division 1, Second Division sides Mellieha, Gzira United, Gharghur and San Gwann and Gozitans Xewkija Tigers in the next round.
At the Centenary Stadium, First Division side St. Patrick defeated Marsaskala from Division 3 1-0. On the other hand, Vittoriosa Stars overcame the challenge offered by Second Division side Attard 3-1.
Second Division side Siggiewi defeated Xaghra United 1-0 at the Gozo Stadium to reach the next stage while Victoria Hotspurs were the second Gozitan side to make it to the third round as they beat Nadur Youngsters 2-1 in a clash between two Gozitan teams.
Luqa St. Andrew’s beat fellow Second Division side Zurrieq on penalties following a 2-2 draw at the end of extra-time. In the penalty shoot-out, the Saints scored four and Zurrieq two.
Dingli Swallows beat Third Division side Qrendi 5-1 in another match.
