Difficult test for Hibernians

Hibernians will be hoping to keep the pace with leaders Valletta as they take on Sliema Wanderers in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme at the Hibernians Stadium on Saturday.

After dropping four points in the previous two matches, Hibs returned to winning ways last week, defeating Qormi 4-0. Another win is a must on Saturday against a team which held them in a 3-3 draw in the first round.

The Wanderers also registered a comfortable win over Tarxien after being held in two draws in the previous two matches. A win which put Danilo Doncic’s side in joint-fifth place together with Qormi.

No player is ruled out through suspension but Josef Mifsud and Clifford Gatt Baldacchino could be back for the Blues after missing the last game.

Meanwhile in the first match, Floriana will be hoping to register a double over Mqabba after defeating them 2-0 in the first round.

After losing to Valletta and Birkirkara and earning a point in a draw with Hibernians, the Greens returned to winning ways in a most dramatic fashion, beating Mosta 3-2.

Mqabba, on the other hand, collected just one point from the last four matches – a draw with Mosta, losing the games to Hibernians, Tarxien and Hamrun.

Clyde Borg is ruled out as he serves a one-match ban for Floriana. Tyrone Farrugia is injured while Ivan Woods is hoping to recover in time. For Mqabba, Pierre Grima and Marlon Briffa should be back after missing the last game.
