Balzan target third successive win

Balzan Youths will be aiming for a third successive win on Friday as they take on Mosta in one of the two BOV Premier League clashes in programme at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

The Youths defeated Hamrun Spartans and Qormi in their last two outings and with a win on Friday, they would join Birkirkara and Qormi in fourth place, one point ahead of Sliema although the latter three would have a game in hand.

However their task will be no easy one as their opponents Mosta are coming from two positive results – two draws with Marsaxlokk and Birkirkara.

For Mosta, Sheldon Grech is ruled out through suspension.

In the first round, Balzan and Mosta shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile in the second match, Hamrun Spartans take on Tarxien Rainbows. The Spartans are joint-ninth on 11 points, followed by the Rainbows on ten.

Both teams will be all out to claim the three points as they are both coming from defeats. Hamrun lost to Balzan and Valletta. Tarxien, on the other hand, lost to Sliema, Valletta and Floriana.

Hamrun welcome back Rupert Mangion and Kevin Sammut but Massimo Grima joins Lee James Agius and Gaetan Spiteri on the sidelines as they are all suspended. Caio Garcia Suguino returns for Tarxien.

In the first round, Tarxien and Hamrun shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
