As local youth football followers have become accustomed to, the Birkirkara FC Youth Nursery will be organizing a football festival during the festive period. Six nurseries will be taking part with their Under-12 squads in this festival, which will be taking place between Monday 26th and Thursday 29th December. Apart from the hosts, the other five teams involved are Pietà Hotspurs, San Gwann, Paola Hibernians, Hamrun Spartans and St Andrews.
The draws that made up the festival’s fixtures were held earlier this month at the Infetti Training Grounds when delegates from the participating nurseries were briefed about the Festival rules and code of ethics. An emphasis is being done on both the children’s and their parents’ behaviour.
All the teams will be playing each other on a round-robin basis. Every team will play one match each on the 26th 27th and 29th December, and will play two matches each on Wednesday 28th December.
The opening ceremony will be held on Monday 26th December at 17:15, as soon as the first match comes to an end, while every participant will be presented with a commemorative token at the end of each of the teams’ last match.
The Nursery is encouraging the general public to come and witness some youth football in a relaxed and uncompetitive environment, where, who knows, some of the future Maltese football stars will be taking part.
