Balzan Youths eye precious points

After holding them in a 1-1 draw in the first round, Balzan Youths will be hoping for another positive result on Sunday as they take on Sliema Wanderers at the Hibernians Stadium.

The Youths are currently seventh in the BOV Premier League table, just two points behind Qormi. The Wanderers, on the other hand, share the fourth place with Birkirkara.

Balzan collected ten points from the last five matches, losing only to Mosta. In their last outing, they drew 2-2 with Mqabba.

Sliema registered a dramatic win over Birkirkara last week and are keen to extend their positive run with a win over Balzan.

Beppe Muscat and Roderick Bajada are suspended for the Wanderers but Argentine winger Emiliano Lattes will be making his debut for the club. For Balzan, Clifton Ciantar and Roderick Farrugia are recovering from injuries.

In the first match, champions Valletta take on Mqabba.

Following six consecutive wins, the Citizens were held in a 1-1 draw by Hibernians. Mqabba, on the other hand, won just one of the last nine matches but are still eighth on sixteen points, five behind Balzan.

Mqabba will be lacking the suspended Claudio Calleja but Marlon Briffa should be back after missing the last game.

In the first round, Valletta defeated Mqabba 4-2.
