In a closely fought encounter but in an atmosphere of fair play, Sliema Wanderers defeated St. Andrews 2-1 to claim the National Lotteries Good Causes Fund Under-15 Knock-Out.
St. Andrews were a better side in the early stages, taking the lead through Nwoko mid-way through the first half. The Wanderers equalised with a freekick by Mercieca and in the dying minutes, Friggieri notched the winner for Sliema.
After the game, Youth FA President Fr Hilary Tagliaferro and Robert Attard, on behalf of the Minister of Finance, the Economy and Investment, presented the trophies and medals to the two teams. Present for the game were MFA Vice President Alex Manfre, MFA Technical Director Robert Gatt and MFA Academy Coach Sergio Soldano.
