AME Cup 2012 kicks off on Sunday at the Luxol Stadium with a guarantee of entertaining football with all the eight teams participating hailing from the BOV Premier League.
Daily kick-off times are at 18:30 and 20:30 and the tournament will be played between July 22nd and August 5th.
Group A sees Birkirkara FC, Sliema Wanderers FC, Qormi FC and Rabat ajax FC whilst in Group B the remaining 4 Premier teams Balzan FC, Mosta FC, Tarxien Rainbows FC and Hamrun Spartans FC.
If after 90 minutes the teams are still tied up, penalties will determine a winner who will be awarded 2 points whilst the losing team will earn a point. Beyond the group stage the first two classified teams will go through to the semifinals and before the final there will be a play-off for third and fourth place. The rest of the teams who do not pass to the semifinals will still play against each other to determine fifth to eighth placing.
The fans will have an opportunity to see their teams play in an organised and friendly atmosphere and gauge their players for the season ahead. The teams will have the right environment to have a look at their foreign or Maltese recruits before signing them for the season.
Besides the main tournament sponsor AME other sponsors include Cañas y Tapas, Silstone from Hal Mann, Teamsport, Mutti from Carmelo Abela Marketing, Misto Cafe, S&S Bathroom and Old Spice.
