Balzan Futsal's UEFA Futsal Cup adventure comes to an end

Balzan Futsal’s adventure in the UEFA Futsal Cup Preliminary round Group A came to an end after losing both games at the Miloš Mrdi? complex in Trebinje, Bosnia-Herzegovina.

On Wednesday, KMF Leotar Trebinje of Bosnia-Herzegovina proved too strong for Balzan, beating them 9-1. Balzan did much better on Thursday, although they lost 0-3 to Lexmax Chisinau of Moldova.

In the first game against KMF Leotar Trebinje, Savo Andri? put Leotar ahead after just 13 seconds, Joney Herbert Felix Da Silva doubled the score on the 3rd and scored the third on the 6th. A few seconds later, Miljan Vico added a fourth goal and on the 7th, an own goal by Carlos Scicluna made it 5-0.

Leotar maintained the pressure and Vico scored the sixth goal one minute from the end of the first half.

Miljan Vico scored the seventh goal on the half-hour with Basil Emeka Onuta reducing the gap a few seconds later. However Dejan Pavlovi? on the 37th and Vladimir Vladisavljevi? on the 40th sealed the issue for a 9-1 win.

In the second game against Lexmax Chisinau, Balzan controlled their opponents well during the first half but after the break, Lexmax broke the deadlock through a Valeriu Bae?u penalty on the 23rd minute. Four minutes later, the same player doubled the score and captain Vladimir Tanurcov secured victory with a third goal on 28 minutes.

The Balzan Futsal squad was made up of Matthew Xerxen, Zeljko Anicic, Glenn Bonello, Carlos Scicluna, Matthew Cocks, Basil Emeka Onuta, Aleksandar Ribic, Florin Manea, Christian Micallef, Nicola Del Re, Reuben Grech and player-coach Florin Anton.
