Valletta target fifth consecutive win

Champions Valletta will be aiming to maintain their perfect start with a fifth consecutive win as they take on Hamrun Spartans in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme on Monday at the National Stadium.

The Citizens, who were in action on Wednesday in a friendly in Libya, defeated Tarxien, Mosta, Qormi and Melita in their first four matches, scoring twelve and conceding two. Hamrun, on the other hand, obtained three draws in the first three matches against Balzan, Floriana and Tarxien but lost 1-4 to Mosta last week.

Angel Yoshev serves a one-match ban for Hamrun but Andrea Cassar and Roderick Fenech return from suspension.

Meanwhile in the first game, Tarxien Rainbows hope to register a second successive as they take on Melita.

The Rainbows lost the first three games but defeated Balzan 2-1 last week. Melita, on the other hand, lost three of the first four matches, earning their only point in a draw with Rabat.

Jovan Vukanic serves a one-match ban for Melita but George Gribbon should be back while Michael Martin could make his first appearance this season. Evaldo, Luiz Romulo de Castro and Manuel Caruana are in doubt for Tarxien.
