Another tricky test for Valletta

Valletta chase their first win after four consecutive draws as they take on Mosta in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme at the National Stadium on Saturday.

The Citizens saw a comfortable lead on top the BOV Premier League table end up in smoke as they were held in four consecutive draws – five draws in last six matches, including the draw with Birkirkara. Against Mosta, they have the opportunity to go out for the three points and following the Stripes’ 2-2 draw with Balzan, they could regain sole leadership.

However it will definitely be no easy task for Valletta as Mosta are keen to stay close to the teams on top after losing to Hibernians last week. A draw would put them on level points with Sliema in fourth place.

In the first round, Valletta defeated Mosta 3-1.

Meanwhile in the first match, Hibernians would leapfrog Birkirkara should they beat Qormi.

The Paolites were back on track thanks to three narrow wins over Floriana, Hamrun and Mosta after a series of disappointing results.

Similarly Qormi are coming from three positive results following a draw with Birkirkara and wins over Tarxien and Rabat. They seek another positive result to stay ahead of Floriana.

In the first round, Hibernians registered a 4-2 win.
