Hibs take on Birkirkara in weekend's big match

Leaders Hibernians could move four points clear on top the BOV Premier league table should they beat Birkirkara in this weekend’s big match at the National Stadium on Saturday.

The Paolites lead the way with 31 points, one ahead of Valletta and two ahead of Birkirkara and therefore they could extend the lead further following Valletta’s 1-1 draw with Rabat Ajax.

Hibernians won five of the last six matches, scoring eleven goals in the last two matches as they defeating Melita 5-1 and Rabat 6-0.

Birkirkara, on the other hand, are coming from three consecutive draws against Balzan, Rabat Ajax and Floriana. A win would put them back on top while a draw would put them on level points with Valletta, leaving them two points behind Hibernians.

The Paolites will be lacking Udo Nwoko and Bjorn Kristensen who are both suspended.

In the first round, Birkirkara defeated Hibernians 1-0.

Meanwhile in the first match, Mosta take on Balzan.

The Blues would move one further step towards securing a place in the Championship Pool should they claim the three points from this clash. They won two of the last three matches, defeating Hamrun 3-0 in their last outing,

Balzan, on the other hand, are keen to return to winning ways after suffering defeats to Floriana and Tarxien Rainbows. Two defeats which left Ivan Zammit’s side in eight place.

Pedro Calcado will be back after serving a one-match ban but Jamie Pace and Renato Conceicao are suspended. Ryan Grech returns for Mosta after missing the last game.

In the first round, Balzan and Mosta shared the spoils in a goalless draw.
