BOV Premier League second phase gets underway

The second phase of the BOV Premier League gets underway on Friday with the first two matches from the Relegation Pool.

In the first match, Melita hope to collect precious points as they take on Floriana.

The Amateurs are currently second from bottom on seven points. They lost four of the last five matches, earning a point in a goalless draw with the Greens. That was the second draw for Melita against Floriana following the 2-2 draw in the first round.

Floriana, on the other hand, have now gone eight matches without a win as their win over Hibernians was cancelled by the MFA Protests Board. They are third in the Relegation Pool with twelve points.

The Greens will be without Sacha Borg and Gary Roberts but Melita lack Karl Vella Petroni who is suspended. Coach Patxi Salinas is unable to lead the team from the bench as he was handed a two-match ban.

Meanwhile in the second match, Rabat Ajax take on Qormi.

The Magpies lie at the bottom of the table but the 3-2 win over Mosta in their last league outing was a morale-booster.

Qormi, on the other hand, won three out of the last four matches and lead the way in the Relegation Pool with fifteen points.

Alfred Effiong and Jonathan Bondin will be back after missing the last league game. Rabat could not count on Justin Felice, Adam Smeir, Ryan Micallef and Chris Schembri as they are all ruled out injured.

Qormi defeated Rabat 1-0 and 3-0 in the first phase.
