Double for Paola Hibs Under-17

paola-hibs-nurseryThe Paola Hibs Under-17 side claimed the double after defeating Valletta 3-1 in the final of the Under-17 Knock-Out at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Friday. This game brought to an end the competitions organised by the Youth Football Association for season 2012/13.

Valletta had eliminated Pembroke and Pietà, both on penalties in the previous rounds while Paola Hibs beat St. Andrews and Cottonera to reach the final.

Paola Hibs won the APS Bank Under-17 Section A League, three points ahead of Valletta with Pietà Hotspurs ending in third place. Melita and St. Patrick were relegated to Section B.

In Section B, St. Andrews and Pembroke Athleta ended their commitments on top with 50 points, two points ahead of Balzan. St. Andrews and Pembroke were promoted to Section A as champions and runners-up respectively as the Saints defeated Pembroke 3-1 in a championship decider.

Meanwhile Rabat Ajax, Naxxar Lions, Mellieha and Zebbug Rangers were relegated to Section C. Rabat were relegated after losing a decider with Tarxien.

Kirkop United, Luqa St. Andrew’s and Cottonera United won Sections C1, C2 and C3 respectively. However only Kirkop and Cottonera were promoted as they finished in the top two places in the promotion play-offs.
