Floriana and Mosta will be contesting the final of the second edition of the AME Cup after both emerged as winners in the two semi-finals which were played on Thursday. The final will be played at the Sirens Stadium on Sunday, kick-off at 20:30.
In the first semi-final, ten-man Floriana defeated Balzan 2-0. Igor Coronado put the Greens ahead on the 11th. Four minutes later, Balzan were awarded a penalty with Floriana goalkeeper Sean Mintoff being sent off. However Firas Aboulezz missed the penalty. Four minutes from time, Gambia international Aziz Corr Nyang doubled the score to seal the issue.
On the other hand, a brace by Brazilian striker Christian Fernandez gave Mosta a 2-1 win over Qormi. Fernandez opened the score on the 23rd minute and doubled the score nine minutes in the second half. Leighton Grech scored a consolation goal for Qormi five minutes from time.
Balzan will be facing Qormi in the final for third and fourth place on Sunday, kick-off at 18:30.
