Balzan Nursery continues to expand and improve

balzan-fc-nurseryThe new Balzan Nursery season officially kicks off on 7 September following the completion this week of the Balzan FC Summer School which has seen over 40 young players participate in exercises and activities conducted by Balzan’s Nursery coaches .

The Nursery has continued to expand over the summer, not only by continuing to sign up many promising new players for the club but also by employing several new coaches, including a new professional Physical Trainer, Luca Tonetti, who previously worked for Udinese in Italy’s Serie A as well ex Malta Under 21 National Team goalkeeper coach Edward Bartolo. All Balzan Nursery Technical staff will report to Balzan’s new full time Italian professional coach Riccardo Tumiatti and to Silvan Ciscaldi, Head Coach of the Nursery.

Balzan FC Honorary President and main sponsor Anton Tagliaferro, an ex Under 19 player of Balzan himself said ” Our aim of building the Balzan Nursery into one of the best set ups in Malta continues to take shape. Following Riccardo’s appointment at the beginning of 2013 to the club, we are also delighted to now have Luca and Edward join the club as we strive to provide the best coaches for our players. Our aim is to provide the best available environment of professional coaches and facilities for boys in Malta who want to improve their football and who aspire to play at the highest level in future.”

Balzan’s new coach Riccardo Tumiatti, who spent many years coaching at AC Milan, said ” We continue to recruit many promising young players for the club with the aim of producing players for our first team. To this end this season we have 4 of our under 17 and 3 of our under 19 players training with the first team as we believe these boys all have great potential. Also for the first time this season and on my advice ,Balzan has also signed up two 18 year old players from the AC Milan Soccer School in Sydney because we believe these two boys have the right mentality and skills to improve and develop significantly with us.”

Nursery Head Coach Silvan Ciscaldi added “It is just a dream come through for me to work alongside a professional Italian coaches like Ricky and Luca, as I am sure it is for many of our coaches and players here at Balzan. We have continued to focus on employing a dynamic and professional group of coaches at the club to provide all of Balzan’s young players with the best possible coaching and learning experiences.”

Honorary President Anton Tagliaferro concluded by saying “We believe we now have the necessary set up at the Balzan Nursery to continue to attract some of the best young players on the island and from Sydney to Balzan and I am sure that under Ricky and Silvan’s guidance we will succeed in our aim of producing many very capable and professional players for the future.”
