Under-21 side loses 5-0 in Athens

u21-greece-malta130910pzcThe Malta Under-21 side lost 5-0 to Athens in the third match from Group 7 of the UEFA Under-21 Championship at the Peristeri Municipal Stadium in Athens.

Nikos Karelis put Greece ahead on the 5th minute and doubled the score on the 13th. Stelios Kitsiou made it 3-0 on the 72nd minute.

Three minutes later, Greece were awarded a penalty after Gianniotas was brought down inside the area by Sacha Borg but Kostas Stafylidis missed the penalty. However substitute Dimitris Diamantakos scored the fourth goal on 78 minutes. Giannis Gianniotas sealed the issue with the fifth goal on the 90th.

Malta will now host Greece on October 15.
