BOV Division 1: Pietà Hotspurs take sole leadership

bov-first-division-2013-2014Pietà Hotspurs took sole leadership in the BOV First Division after defeating St. Andrews 4-3 in a top-of-the-table clash at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday. Pietà now lead the way with fourteen points, followed by Melita on 13 and St. Andrews on 11.

Orosco Anonam put the Hotspurs ahead on the 12th and Raphael Alain Kooh Sohna doubled the score a minute later. The Hotspurs had a player sent off and Trayo Grozev pulled one back on 51 minutes but Anonam scored again on 68 minutes to make it 3-1. Grozev scored a second goal for the Saints on 72 minutes, Ricardo Costa made it 4-2 on 74 minutes and Emiliano Lattes reduced the arrears once again on 76 minutes.

Meanwhile Hamrun Spartans registered their first win as they beat Zurrieq 3-1 in another match.

Justin Felice put the Spartans ahead on 28 minutes and just before half-time, Antonio Pignataro doubled the scoere. Glenn Bonello reduced the gap on the hour and eight minutes from time, Pignataro added another for a final 3-1 score.

Lija and Birzebbuga are joint-fourth on 9 points, Gzira, St. George’s and Zebbug 8, Zurrieq 7, Gudja and Zejtun 4, Msida 1 and Hamrun -4.
