Futsal: Good comeback hands Luxol second win

imageLuxol St. Andrews came from behind to gain their second consecutive win in the FXDD Premier Division after seeing off Hamrun Spartans with a 6-3 scoreline.

Hamrun took a three-goal lead thanks to Steve Gambin, Antonio Marin Guardia and Christian Cuadros Silva. Luxol, who proved to be a bit shaky at the beginning, tried a comeback through Florin Anton but the latter’s effort hit the bar. However they reduced the arrears through Karl Saliba and Florin Anton to close the first half 3-2 down. In the second half, the Luxol lions roared loudly and scored four consecutive goals by Eslam Kalifa, Florin Anton, Dean Gera and Basil Emeka Onuta to seal the victory and grab the three important points.

In another match, Melita beat Vittoriosa Stars 6-5. It was a very tight and interesting game with the former side notching the winning goal in the dying minutes. Vittoriosa are still without points while Melita now have six points together with Luxol, Balzan, San Gwann, Pembroke and Qormi.

Swieqi United gained their first success in the Premier Division after winning 5-3 against Zurrieq. It was quite a close game that produced a positive result for Swieqi.

In the FXDD First Division, Gzira United continued their winning trend after beating rivals Msida St. Joseph 4-1. This result confirmed Gzira’s superiority in this division after grabbing their fifth consecutive win.

Zebbug Rangers moved second after flooding Santa Lucia 9-0. Marsaskala got the precious points after winning 3-1 against Siggiewi.

Gzira top the table with 15 points followed by Zebbug with 12, Qrendi with 10 while Msida and Marsascala are joint fourth with 9 points.
