Four teams seek remaining U*BET FA Trophy semi-final berths

UBET-FA-TROPHY-logoTwo Premier League clubs and two First Division sides will be seeking a place in the semi-finals of the U*BET FA Trophy as Gzira United take on Rabat Ajax and Sliema Wanderers face Pietà Hotspurs at the Hibernians Stadium on Sunday.

Gzira United are currently ninth in the BOV First Division with four wins and five draws from fourteen matches. Rabat Ajax, on the other hand, ended the first phase of the BOV Premier League at the bottom of the table after winning just one game and obtaining three draws.

In the previous rounds, Rabat Ajax defeated Third Division leaders 3-1 and Gozitan side Kercem Ajax 5-1. Gzira, on the other hand, beat First Division side Zurrieq 5-1, Second Division side Pembroke Athleta 1-0 and First Division side St. George’s 2-1.

The winner will be facing Valletta who defeated Naxxar Lions 1-0 in the first quarter-final on Saturday.

In the other match, Sliema Wanderers take on a Piet` Hotspurs side who eliminated holders Hibernians in the fourth round, beating them 1-0. In the previous rounds, they beat Hamrun Spartans and Mqabba with identical 1-0 scores. Sliema, on the other hand, beat First Division leaders Zebbug Rangers 3-1 and Balzan on penalties following a 1-1 draw.

The Wanderers finished fourth in the BOV Premier League first phase with twelve wins and seven draws out of twenty-two matches. The Hotspurs, on the other hand, are joint-leaders in the BOV First Division with ten wins and three draws out of fifteen matches.

The winner will be facing Qormi who beat Birkirkara 3-1 in another quarter-final on Saturday.

The semi-finals are scheduled for March 19.
