The Malta Under-17 side lost 3-0 to Italy (Lega Nazionale Dilettanti) in the second match from Group B of the Torneo Roma Caput Mundi which is being played in the region of Lazio.
Italy, who had defeated San Marino 2-0 in their first outing, scored the three goals during the first half. They now lead the way on 6 points, followed by Malta and England Colleges on three and San Marino without any points.
Malta plays San Marino in the third and final match at the Stadio Elio Mastrangeli in Zagarolo on Thursday.
